Preventing tonsil stones with natural remedies

Tonsil stones are white clumps on the throat that causes halitosis or bad breath. These are formally known as tonsilollith usually made of calcium that grow and develop over time in the crypts and crevasses of the tonsils. These white with yellow hue in color stones are described by most as white spots in the throat. Due to the pain and discomfort brought about by these stones, most people would do anything just to remove it, even by using foreign objects just to dislodge these stones from the mouth.

Removal of the tonsils stones is possible, but it is best to take measures to stop these stones from returning and recurring often. Once these stones are removed, cleaning the tonsils regularly is important to keep them free of the particles that would eventually break down and cause the tonsilolliths to develop. There are a number of methods one can apply to prevent these stones from recurring.

With the technological advances today, there is a much more high-tech option for tonsil stones removal and that is to use pulsating jets of water.  These use a low pressure spraying on the accumulations out of the crypts. This procedure can be used in the privacy of one’s home. With this, those tonsil stones located in the hard to reach parts of the mouth where it's much more unsafe to dig around with a pick or Q-tip can be safely removed. One can ask his or her physician regarding this tonsil stones treatment.

Proper oral care can help prevent these stones from forming on the throat. Brushing the teeth and gargling with a germ-killing oxygenating mouthwash solution after meals is an excellent way to ensure that the breath is fresh and the mouth and tonsils are free from food particles that would eventually cause bad breath and tonsil stones. Another good procedure is swish water on the mouth and spit it out until no more food particles are seen coming out. This will be done before brushing and after every meal. Then, one must drink a bit of water to wash down any particles in the back of the throat and tonsils. If this is done after every meal, it will help the overall oral health and keep the mouth free of any food particles.

Nasal irrigation is also recommended to clean out the nasal passages regularly because too much mucus drainage in the back of the throat causes tonsil stones. Taking any preventive measures will surely get rid of tonsil stones for good and eliminate tonsil stones from one’s life.
